Here is what made my list of things to do over the weekend...
Lots of things overlap so I won't be able to take it all in unfortunately.
Friday
- First Friday in Old City
- "Grove"- MBN Studios at 725 North 4th Street, starts at 5:00pm
Wissahickon light and life-size cast paper trees create an oddly mesmerizing forest deep in the urban environment of MBN Studios, at the launch of Louise Barteau Chodoff’s new video installation project, GROVE.
Saturday
- "Red" by Music & Motion Dance Company 2:00 and 8:00pm at Independence Seaport Museum, 211 S. Columbus Blvd., $5 (Funsavers Price) $10 (Regular Price)
Your eye is caught by a single color, RED. It is inescapable and compelling as senses are triggered and emotions aroused. When this color becomes the defining point of a relationship, one is caught up in whirlwind of seduction, passion, anger, romance and joy. Ultimately this color journey leads us to an empowering view of who we are and what is truly possible. Music and Motion Dance's new work RED, offers us an intimate look at relationships through the medium of movement, luscious visual imagery, differing human temperaments and undeniable beauty of self-discovery.
- Greenfest Philly 11:00-6:00pm South Street between 7th & 11th Streets, Free
Come explore the many ways that Philadelphia is Going Green—or could! Our rocking street festival features music, food, art and more than 120 exhibitors. They demo new, exciting solutions for living in an environmentally sensitive and just way.

- Tango/Salsa/Swing Dance Lessons & Open House Performances at University City Arts League, 4226 Spruce Street. 12:00-4:00pm
The Event is designed as a unique form of 'Open House'. Rather than a series of demonstrations, the range of classes held at the 41-year-old community arts center, will be illustrated in offbeat and unusual ways using interdisciplinary dance, visual and performance art. The unifying theme of all the performances will be 'Walls', with the primary focus being: what happens within these walls and what is our perception of walls, both physical and psychological?
Sunday
- Koresh Artist Showcase 6:00 and 8:00pm located at 2020 Chestnut St., $10
An evening of local dance. The show features work by artists from the Philadelphia area.
- Culture, Creativity, and the City 5:30-7:30pm located at The Painted Bride Art Center 230 Vine Street, Free
The Culture, Creativity and the City Town Hall Meeting is an opportunity to discuss the cultural policy issues relevant to artists, cultural workers, community members, elected officials, youth, and others, to learn from the successes and failures of other cities and to define our aspirations for the next administration.A wine and cheese reception follows the panel discussion. **Cecelia will also be presenting. Come see our professor in action!**

Again, make sure to check out the Philly Fringe Festival. There are a lot of different performances that are sure to catch your attention. The Festival runs from Aug 31-Sept 15.
Have a great weekend!!
